Water cooling of CO2 lasers

CO2 laser tubes can be air or water cooled. Cooling is usually necessary to ensure the functionality of the laser source, to prevent large changes in laser power, and to extend the life of the laser source.

Why is water cooling necessary?

When cooled by water using a water cooler ("heat exchanger"), the laser system is independent of the ambient temperature. Especially in countries with hot climates or in difficult climatic conditions, water cooling can extend the life of the laser source and guarantee constant laser performance. Water cooling is a prerequisite for powerful CO2 lasers above 120 W. We recommend using water cooling even if the laser device is mainly intended for cutting.
